A VISIT TO SHRISTI SPECIAL ACADEMY
Engage, Enable, Empower persons with disability
The visit to the Shristi Special Academy on 11th April was an eye opener to the condition called “Autism” – in other words, “Isolated self .” Shristi reaches to empower individuals with intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, autism,multiple disabilities from infancy to adulthood. Individualized, comprehensive programmes facilitate independence and social interaction, cognitive growth and communication skills. It involves physical therapists, occupational therapists to achieve, IEP (Individual Education Plan). This Academy was founded by Mrs. Suchitha, about 25 years ago and is located on Magadi Main Road, about 24 kms from the city.
President, Rotary Club of Bangalore, Rtn. Vivek Prabhu gave a donation to the Institution and a special lunch for the children. Also, an entertainment program was arranged by Ann Supriya Raghunathan and her team. Storytelling, bhajans, and simple exercises were part of the program.
On the whole, it was an enlightening and fulfilling day, well spent with the children. Thanks to Rtn. M. C. Dinesh, Anns Margaret, Supriya Raghunathan and Mr. T Gopal for joining the service activity and lending their support.
