Celebrating Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: The Rotary Club of Bangalore’s Journey to Success
We are thrilled to report and extend heartfelt congratulations to The Rotary Club of Bangalore, President Rtn. Nalini Nanjundayya, and our entire team for the incredible success we achieved at the inaugural Rotary District DEI Awards 2024-2024! It’s essential to highlight that the integrity and significance of our accomplishments were underscored by the fact that these awards were judged solely by external jury members.
Our journey towards this achievement began with embracing the Rotary International directive on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). President Rtn. Nalini Nanjundayya’s unwavering passion for this cause has been the driving force behind our initiatives. Under her exceptional leadership, along with the dedicated DEI team, we embarked on a journey of executing projects aimed at fostering inclusivity and empowerment.
Our efforts were multifaceted:
- Awareness Events and District Programs on DEI: We actively participated in and contributed to DEI awareness events at the club level. Our involvement in various District programs focused on DEI further showcased our commitment to this cause.
- Application Process: When the District called for applications, we were among 200 applicants. Through a rigorous screening process, 20 finalists were shortlisted, and we were proud to be among them.
- External Jury Interview: Our journey culminated in facing a stringent interview conducted by a team of 9 external jury members from IIM Bangalore. President Rtn. Nalini Nanjundayya’s exemplary performance during this interview was instrumental in our success.
- Selection and Recognition: Finally, our hard work, dedication, and vision paid off as we were selected and awarded for our impactful contributions in two significant categories.
None of this would have been possible without the tireless efforts and contributions of several Rotarians. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to:
- Rtn. Chetan Kamani, for securing our hospitality partners for the awards function.
- Rtn. Kalyani Talukdar, for her relentless efforts in community rehabilitation.
- Rtn. Niska Nanjundayya, for her pivotal role in the application process.
- Above all, I express my deepest appreciation to President Rtn. Nalini Nanjundayya for her foresight two years ago in championing this major project and her unwavering passion and dedication towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society.
This achievement not only reflects our commitment but also our collective vision for positive change. Let’s continue to inspire and lead by example in driving meaningful impact and creating a better world for all. Thank you to everyone involved in this remarkable journey!
