C. S. Krishna Setty, born in 1952 in Thirthahalli, Karnataka, is a renowned artist, writer, art critic, and former Chairman of both Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, and Karnataka Lalithakala Academy. He has held key national positions including Trustee of Bharat Bhavan Bhopal, Member of the Apex Committee of NGMA, Jury for the National Film Awards, and International Jury at the Bangladesh Biennale. He was the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the 1st Print Biennale India and served on the Tagore Fellowship Committee, AICTE, and various university academic councils. A widely exhibited artist, he has held 25 solo shows across India including at NGMA Bangalore and a rare three-month solo exhibition at Rashtrapati Bhavan, and participated in major group exhibitions in the USA, UK, Poland, Philippines, and more than 12 countries worldwide. His works are part of prestigious collections across the globe. He has received over 25 major awards including the Rajyotsava Award, Venkatappa Award, and Honorary Membership of the Russian Academy of Arts. A prolific writer and art thinker, he has authored several acclaimed books on art and continues to contribute meaningfully to the cultural landscape of India.
