Swarnāmbuja – the golden lotus is beautifully represented as a mandala. The background features a postmodern treatment with gold gilding comprising some textured elements, adding a new layer of aesthetic depth to the piece. This blend of traditional and contemporary styles gives my work a unique visual dimension.

Light defines this composition- a glowing brass vessel of walnuts, rich in texture, paired with red flowers from my garden. Set against a burnt sienna undertone on my coffee table in the living room, the scene captures the golden hour’s calm nostalgia and quiet magic when day gently surrenders to night.

The title reflects the spiritual journey that we are all taking in this life. I build up layers to create texture almost like the episodes of our lives that bring us to the present. The layers underneath are hidden like our memories that recede into the past.

The symbolism of the maze representing life’s complexities and challenges, combined with the imagery of the key held by a hand or placed in a holder hints at the idea of unlocking one’s potential or finding solutions to life’s puzzles.
