This work was inspired by my visit to Mumbai where I saw this small temple run by a family living right next to it and a normal life around it. A visit to a temple before one starts their day is such a common ritual amongst us Indians. This instills the faith in us that the day will go on successfully and everything will be taken care by the almighty. And I thought I must capture this !

I observed during my visits to riverbanks and seashores, where fisherwomen work with equal effort as fishermen, yet live joyfully like queens — hence the crown. The painting portrays the strength and resilience of a woman whose life is deeply interwoven with fishing.
I have painted this famous Krishna sculpture of the Belur temple, Karnataka on sand with acrylics. This method gives a three dimensional look to the painting.
This diptych portrays the Shivalingam tree with its divine brightly coloured flowers. These flowers with its unique design have always fascinated me and I wanted to capture the beauty of this unusual tree in all its splendour. The canvas is very textured and is full of light , colours and joy.
