My artwork, ‘Rest,’ reflects on the hardship of rickshaw pullers, a profession that symbolizes struggle and resilience. I’m capturing the essence of their existence through this piece, which now serves as a poignant reminder of their plight. Using acrylic on canvas in a contemporary style, I’ve incorporated textures to create a deeper connection between the artwork and the subject’s life, conveying their story in my signature style.
A calf is shown in a green field at night. The influence of miniature painting in this picture has been taken from the painting of Akbar period.
A picture of the religious place Banaras is shown on the banks of the river ganga. Temples along a ghat are beautifully painted in red ,yellow, orange and blue boats on the banks at the ganga are also painted in blue.
When I visit villages along riverbanks or sea shores, I observe the concentration of a fisherman in his daily routine with fishing, fish, and boat. They work hard, yet find joy in it. An essence I wanted to capture with earth colors on paper.
“Life of Fisherman” is about a fisherman and his wife resting together after a long day’s toil, sharing a quiet smoke under the dark night. Their weary yet intimate faces, drawn in rustic grunge strokes and textured forms, evoke resilience, companionship, and the silent poetry of labor entwined with love.
