Rtn. Dr. Elizabeth Cherian Paramesh
Imm. Past PresidentProf. Elizabeth Cherian Paramesh is an Educationist, Public Health Consultant and an Environmentalist and is the Managing Trustee of the Lakeside Education Trust which focuses on Continuing Medical Education Programs and research on children’s health and environment and geriatric care.
She is the Vice President of the Alliance for Health Promotion, ( In official Relations with WHO),Geneva and Member representative of CAMHADD-CTCPHF .(Commonwealth Association for Mental Handicap and Developmental Disabilities and the CAMHADD Trisector Preventive Health Care Foundation)
She has published several research papers in National and International Medical and Social Journals and has written chapters for medical text books and has several publications in English and Kannada to her credit.
A debater and a poet she has won several awards and honours, noted among them being the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award for constructive services to society in education and social service in the year 2000 and the Best Poet of the year Award by the Poets International in 2008, 2009 and 2010. She has also been awarded an Honorary Doctorate for her contributions to society. She writes poetry in Kannada and English. She recently won the Times Power woman Award for 2019 at Bangalore.
She joined the Rotary Club of Bangalore in 2002 and has since served on various avenues of services in various capacities. During her term as Director, Community Services, the RCB was adjudged best for Community services, following which she was Director of Youth services and the RCB was adjudged the best for youth services and during her term as Club Secretary she was adjudged Best Secretary. She has also received the citation from the Rotary International for outstanding efforts in all avenues of service.
She is married to Rtn Dr H Paramesh who is a Pediatric Pulmonologist, Allergist, and Environmentalist and has a son Dr Roshan Cherian Paramesh who is trained in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery from the University of Glasgow, Scotland and a daughter Dr Rashmi Cherian Paramesh who is also a Medical Doctor.
During her term as the President of the Rotary Club of Bangalore, several major projects in the field of education, health , environment have been successfully completed. Greenfield school at Rayasandra, support to the Rotary Bangalore Vidyalaya, Home of Hope- a home for the rejected in society, Ambulance and support to the CUPA-an organisation for animal welfare, environmental initiatives like lake rejuvenation and recharge wells, several initiatives for youth,Vocational training centre at RBV and several initiatives in disaster relief, service projects during COVID and lockdown times ,public health messaging in Deccan Herald besides ensuring participation of RCB in all District events were taken up among many others.
Every activity was intended to make a difference to the suffering humanity. Her reward comes from ensuring that the less fortunate in society are confident to face life with renewed grit and enthusiasm. She will continue in her mission to serve selflessly through Rotary.
