This year’s edition of RCB Spelling Bee will be held on Saturday, 13th January 2024 starting 03:00 PM.

Event Type: Individual

We encourage you to send up to nine students from your institution, three each from classes/standards/grades FOUR, FIVE AND SIX. They get to participate in a prestigious event. They get to learn from their peers and most important, they learn to go on stage and absorb new leadership skills. Please encourage sister schools and other schools you may have access to, to participate as well.

The participation guidelines and the format of the Bee:

  • Every participant should have completed their registration process online, before 11th January 2024.
  • If the registration is done incorrectly or is incomplete, you will not be allowed to participate.
  • The Spelling Bee will start at 3:00 PM. If you have an agenda for later in the day, PLEASE DO NOT PARTICIPATE, lest we get late. We intend to finish the Bee by 7:00 pm. However, if there is a delay, we request you to be patient.
  • The Bee will be conducted in two parts: a first qualifier, written, multiple-choice quiz, and a second finals akin to all such Bees in the world.
  • All spelling for the Bee will be British, UK spelling only. No American spelling or spelling used elsewhere in the world that conflicts with the British/UK spelling will be treated as acceptable.
  • All participants will get to take part in the written version. The top (approximately 5%) number of participants will make it to the finals. We expect about 500 participants from the schools in and around Bengaluru.
  • Please do not ask the meaning of the word or the use of the word in a sentence – no questions shall be entertained in the qualifier round.
  • Judges will decide who the top candidates are from the qualifier round that will participate in the finals and their decision shall remain final and cannot be contested.
  • The FINALISTS shall be given numbers for sequence.
  • Each participant will be given a word. This will continue until a word is spelt wrong and the participant is congratulated for participating.
  • The last three will then be selected as second and first runner ups and winner.
