Advancing HPV-Related Cancer Awareness for Women and Men

The 64th and 65th Awareness sessions marked the launch of ShieldAll: United Against HPV-Related Cancers at Christ (Deemed to be University), Kengeri Campus on July 14, 2026. Across two back-to-back sessions, 410 students from diverse academic disciplines participated in this expanded awareness initiative, which broadened the focus from cervical cancer to HPV-related cancers affecting both women and men.
Dr. Vidyamani Lingegowda (Senior Consultant, OBGYN, Sagar Chandramma Hospitals), effectively illustrated the burden of HPV by discussing Cervical cancer, the most common HPV-related cancer in women, and Oropharyngeal cancer, the leading HPV-related cancer in men. The sessions emphasized HPV vaccination, early detection, and the importance of adopting a gender-inclusive approach to cancer prevention.
The interactive discussions, inspiring testimonials from vaccinated students, and thoughtful questions on HPV prevention in men reflected a growing awareness that HPV prevention is a shared responsibility.

The Monday evening unfolded like a love letter written in music, laughter, and nostalgia-an ode to the Rotary House of Friendship (RHF), which had stood as a sentinel of memories for decades. On this night, the Rotarians gathered not merely to watch a performance, but to embrace the bittersweet romance of farewell.
Our Rotarians came together, not to mourn, but to rejoice in the legacy of RHF, to relive its magic one final time.
The show began with a cascade of Bollywood melodies, each note shimmering like stardust across the hall. The stage seemed alive, breathing in the collective joy of those who had cherished it for years.
The evening was not just about songs-it was about stories, about the shared heartbeat of a community. The Rotarians had always believed that memories are not fleeting moments but living imprints, and tonight, those imprints glowed brighter than ever.
Finally, as the night drew to its close, the hauntingly beautiful “Chalte Chalte Ye Mere Geet Yaad Rakhna” filled the air. It was more than a song-it was a promise. A promise that though RHF’s walls would crumble, its melodies, its laughter, its stories would remain etched forever in the hearts of the Rotarians.
Tasneem Jiruwala, Naveen Pishe, Insiya Vagh, and Arjun Srivatsa had spearheaded this Monday night show with a fresh perspective, weaving together fragments of past performances into a seamless tapestry of memory. Their artistry ensured that the evening was not just a farewell, but a celebration.
And so, the Rotary House of Friendship bid adieu, not in silence, but in song. Its legacy now rests in the hands of younger blood, ready to carry forward the mantle of RCB. For the Rotarians, this was not the end. It was a romantic pause, a gentle reminder that every farewell is also a beginning. Down memory lane they walked, hand in hand with the past, eyes lifted toward the future, knowing that the footprints they leave behind will guide generations yet to come.
