Rtn Elizabeth Cherian is currently the President of the Alliance for Health Promotion Geneva in official relations with WHO and official status with ECOSOC, involved in global health promotion, health literacy,and equity in health care services. International co ordinator for COMHAD -Commonwealth Association for health and disability, Member of the Karnataka State Managing committee of KARUNA-All India Society for welfare of women and children and is the President , Yelahanka Educational Association
She has been on various committees of Governmental and Non Governmental organizations like the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Ex-officio NCC Adviser for Karnataka and Kerala, Advisory Board Member of the Karnataka Defence Personnel Council .She is a life member of the Geriatric society of India, the Indian College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the Commonwealth Association for Health and disability in official relations with commonwealth foundation, UK. She is also the POSH committee member of the Sri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Institute.
Among the several awards and recognitions she has received are the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award for constructive services in the field of education and social service, 2000, TIMES Power Woman Award 2019 for making a difference to society through excellence in social entrepreneurship, National woman change maker Award 2020 by the National Press council of India and the Newspapers Association of Karnataka, The Bamacharan Hemalatha Dhar oration award from the Geriatric society of India in 2017.
She has been involved in research programs with Government of Karnataka and World Bank on State of environment and health, Research studies with Padova University, Italy on childhood obesity, nutritional habits and Research on smoking habits in school children, women and men in rural and urban settings- results presented to then CM Sri SM Krishna in 2000 to request for banning smoking in public places and has been involved in Drug and alcohol de addiction training program apart from counselling for children and families. She created and conducted Rotary Lakeside Health Providers program for home care of elderly and has trained several batches of boys and girls.She has contributed to medical text books and journals and has several international publications to her credit.
A teacher, doctoral thesis guide, researcher, author, poet she is passionate about languages specially Kannada. She has received several recognitions for her poetry in Kannada and English.
She is currently the District Governor Elect for RI District 3192 and will take over as District Governor in 2025-26.
A level 2 Major Donor to the Rotary Foundation, all her family members are Paul Harris members.
Her passion is to touch the human and animal lives in need, to listen to the voices that go unheard , to inspire and educate , to motivate and lend a hand and respect nature in its entirety.
