Dr. Mustali M. Vagh,    Director – International Services

Rtn. Dr Mustali Vagh is a cornea, cataract and refractive surgeon who did his undergraduate studies at KMC Mangalore and postgraduate studies in ophthalmology at KMC Manipal, followed by cornea and anterior segment fellowships at Sankara Eye Foundation, Coimbatore and then at LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad where he was awarded the “Bausch and Lomb – Best Fellow in Ophthalmology”.

He was also awarded the John Pratt Johnson Scholarship from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver where he completed his fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery.

Dr Mustali Vagh has the unique experience of working as a staff ophthalmologist and then as the Director of “Orbis International”, a flying eye hospital based in the USA, where he travelled to more than 20 countries teaching advanced eye surgery to ophthalmologists and resident surgeons.

On his return to India, Dr Vagh served as Director of the Bangalore West Lions Eye Hospital and also as Chairman – South Zone, Eye Bank Association of India. In 2000, he established his private practice, Vagh Eye Centre, which is managed by his wife, Insiya Vagh.

A second generation Rotarian, Dr Vagh joined the Rotary Club of Bangalore in 2000 and over the years has served as Director of Community Service, Vocational Service, International Service, Chairman of Community and Youth Service, and on the Board of Directors of BMST and the Rotary Club of Bangalore Charitable Trust.

He received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Ophthalmology at the Rotary multidistrict community ophthalmology conference in Mysore in 2023.

An avid sportsman, he is a passionate tennis player, long-distance runner, swimmer, cyclist, and scuba diver.

Married to Insiya Vagh, a gold medallist from Bombay University, he is deeply interested in art, reading and travelling. They have a son Faiz and a daughter Sanaya and all in the family are proud PHF’s.
