ShieldHer Spreads Awareness at Christ University
The 49th session of ShieldHer: United Against Cervical Cancer was hosted at Christ University, Kengeri Campus, Bengaluru, for the Ground Staff aged 25–50 years. The session drew the participation of 80 women, making it an impactful outreach effort to a group often excluded from such relevant and important discussions.
Dr. Shobha K. (Professor & HOD, Gynae-Oncology, Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology) led the session with remarkable clarity, delivering her talk in both Kannada and Hindi to ensure inclusivity. She explained the causes, prevention, early detection, and treatment of cervical cancer, breaking down complex medical concepts into simple and practical insights.
The interactive format encouraged women to voice their concerns openly. Several participants expressed readiness to undergo screening of cervical
cancer, and Dr. Shobha extended an offer for the use of the Kidwai mobile bus for this purpose —a gesture that was received with great enthusiasm.
The session was appreciated not only for its’ accessibility but also for the compassion with which it was delivered. Special thanks were extended to the
Rotary Club of Bangalore and the Christ University management, particularly Dr. Seela Matthew (Chief Medical Officer), for curating this initiative.
This session reaffirmed the need to extend preventive healthcare awareness to women from every section of society.

“Wellness Wednesday” – “MOVEMENT FLOW”
It was an evening alive with energy, movement, and community spirit, as RD.3192 Health and Wellness kicked off its 1st Episode of “Wellness Wednesday”, in a brand new avataar, with a truly inspiring session led by Fitness Alchemist, Tabassum Sultana & Sylvia.
Tabassum, with her calm yet powerful guidance, graceful strength and poetic narration of the human body in motion, led the session with a flowing, grounded celebration of primal movement. She introduced to the participants, the art of Animal Flow, a bodyweight workout that draws inspiration from the way animals move—raw, powerful, and fluid.
The overall spirit was contagious – with serious effort and wonderous emotions from participants, as they followed instructions to mimick the movements of the Ape, Beast, and Crab. Using muscles rarely thought about in daily life—the shoulders, hip flexors, core stabilizers, and scapular muscles—all came alive to build mobility, stability, and coordination, rediscovering their body’s primal intelligence – as if returning to our instincts, our balance, our rhythm – like a
moving meditation.
Along the way there was tinkly laughter, a few tumbles, playful grunts during the crab walks—and lots of cheering during ice breakers games towards the end. Adding depth to the event, Rotary Club of Bangalore President, Suken Padmanabha, addressed the gathering with warmth and pride, emphasizing the importance of such wellness initiatives in building stronger, more resilient communities.
District Director for this initiative, Rtn Minku Buttar, spoke passionately about the vision of creating ongoing opportunities for wellness and growth across the district.
Rtn. Shivalik Roy anchored the event, with Rtn. Kalpesh Shah, ensuring smooth operations.
The evening ended with nourishment and joy—everyone gathered to enjoy refreshing kombucha and wholesome sandwiches, sharing stories, tips, and plenty of smiles – a testimony to the community spirit that was the true heartbeat of the evening.
A meaningful start for Rotarians to flow forward — together. Wellness Wednesday is a District 3192 and RCB initiative.
