Inspiring Prevention Across Generations
The 66th Awareness session of ShieldHer: United Against Cervical Cancer was held at Rotary Bangalore Vidyalaya on July 25, 2026, benefiting 162 participants- 74 girl students, 26 teachers, and 62 mothers. Dr. R. Nagarathnamma, Senior Consultant, Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Novita Fetal and Women’s Clinic, delivered an engaging session in Kannada on HPV vaccination, cervical cancer prevention and the importance of regular screening.
The interactive discussion addressed common concerns about HPV vaccination, including safety, side effects, and dosage. By the end of the session, students pledged to receive the HPV vaccine at the appropriate age(s), while mothers committed to regular cervical cancer screening through Pap smear or HPV DNA testing.

ShieldHer 5th Screening Camp: Turning Awareness into Action
Following the 66h awareness session, the 5th ShieldHer Cervical Cancer Screening Camp offered free preventive screening for 40 teachers and mothers of RBV students.
Dr. Nirmala, Founder & Director, Green City Hospital, conducted Pap smear screening and clinical breast examinations, while Dr. R. Nagarathnamma counselled participants on cervical cancer prevention and early detection. The camp received an encouraging response, with participants appreciating the initiative and pledging to advocate regular cancer screening within their communities.
We thank the management of Rotary Bangalore Vidyalaya for their excellent coordination and continued partnership in advancing women’s preventive health.

Free Eye Camp & Screening
RB 2020, a Satellite club of RCB in association with RB East & RB Koramangala conducted a free Eye Screening camp for the poor at Domlur Senior Citizens Association on Sunday, the 26th July during 9.30 am and 1.00 pm. iDrishti, Sarjapura was the partnering eye hospital. Totally 64 adults were screened. 15 need spectacles and 17 need cataract surgery.

Silks, Suits, and Shutterbugs
The Rotary House of Friendship was transformed into a gallery of elegance as Rotarians arrived in their finest silks, Marino wool suits, and polished boots. The evening began with a group photo opportunity-aptly described as a Shutterbug’s Delight. It was more than a photograph; it was a portrait of continuity, capturing the faces of those who carry forward the club’s legacy.
Ninety-Two Years Remembered
The photo op gave way to a tribute spanning 92 years of Rotary Club of Bangalore’s existence. Past Presidents-illustrious personalities who shaped the club’s identity-were remembered with reverence. Their leadership was not merely administrative but visionary, weaving together service, fellowship, and impact.
The Ritual of the Toast
The highlight of the evening was the raising of the toast-one for each of the 92 years. Glasses clinked in a symphony of gratitude, each toast a note in a melody celebrating resilience and relevance.
Bonds Across Generations and Clubs
“While clubs differ in geography, they are united by a shared ethos.”
The presence of the President of the Rotary Club of Madras-the mother club-added gravitas. Alongside a battery of Past Presidents, his participation underscored the familial spirit of Rotary. With daughter clubs and even granddaughter clubs, the Rotary Club of Bangalore stood as a testament to organic growth: proof that service, when nurtured, multiplies across communities and generations.
A Symphony of Old and Young
The Charter Night was a cocktail of wisdom and youth. Senior Rotarians brought stories, gravitas, and perspective; younger members brought energy, innovation, and fresh ideas. Together, they created harmony that ensured the club’s legacy would not only be preserved but reimagined for the future.
Looking Forward, Living the Spirit

The evening was not merely about looking back; it was about looking forward. The toast to 92 years was also a pledge to the 93rd year and beyond-a commitment to uphold Rotary’s values in a world that continues to evolve. Service is timeless, fellowship is ageless, and the Rotary Club of Bangalore reaffirmed its bond not just to each other but to the larger mission of Rotary International.
The 93rd Charter Night was a celebration of spirit-of community work, camaraderie, and the enduring belief that together, people can make a difference. It was a night where history was honoured, achievements celebrated, and the future embraced with optimism.

Rtn. Kurien Thomas donated and handed over a laptop to Ms. Ashwini from Spastic Society of Karnataka to support her education.
This will help her with studies and projects.
After her 12th, Ashwini is pursuing her higher studies in Mass Communication and Psychology.
