Inauguration of Smart Classroom Flagship Project of the Year
The Rotary Club of Bangalore (RCB) proudly celebrated the successful completion of 76 Smart Classrooms during the Rotary year 2025–26 with the inauguration of a new Smart Classroom at Government Model High School, Tovinakere, Tumkur District on June 16th 2026. This milestone marks the culmination of RCB’s flagship education initiative aimed at transforming learning experiences for students in government schools through technology-enabled education.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Rotarians project vendors, school staff, and students. RCB’s valued CSR partner, Fortinet, joined the event virtually and conveyed their appreciation for the impact created through this collaborative effort.
The enthusiasm of the students and teachers highlighted the importance of digital learning infrastructure in enhancing classroom engagement and educational outcomes. With a total project spending of approximately ₹1.90 crore, the Smart Classroom initiative has impacted over 9,200 students across 76 schools. By equipping classrooms with modern digital teaching tools, the project has enabled teachers to deliver more interactive and effective lessons while providing students with access to enriched learning resources.
This achievement would not have been possible without the generous support of our CSR partners and well-wishers. RCB extends its heartfelt gratitude to Fortinet, Tata Hitachi, Prestige, Navodaya, Bagaria, Sennheiser, S Cube, Century, Dirak and the many members of Rotary Club of Bangalore who contributed towards making this vision a reality. The Smart Classroom project stands as a testament to RCB’s commitment to improving educational opportunities and empowering young minds. As we celebrate this significant milestone, we look forward to continuing our efforts to bridge the digital divide and create lasting impact in communities through education.

Limb-a-Day & Share a Smile
The Limb-a-Day – Share a Smile event was held on Friday, 19 June 2026, at Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital, in association with the Karnataka Marwari Youth Foundation (KMYF).
The project witnessed an overwhelming response from members of the Rotary Club of Bangalore, with contributions exceeding ₹2.8 lakhs, sufficient to support the fitting of approximately 112 prosthetic limbs. A cheque representing the collected amount was formally handed over to KMYF during the event.
The programme was attended by 10 beneficiaries who had recently been fitted with prosthetic limbs. Following the traditional lighting of the lamp, Mr. Murali and Mr. Aadesh, Trustee of KMYF, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the long-standing association between the Rotary Club of Bangalore and KMYF. President Rtn. Sukhen Padmanabha addressed the gathering and spoke about the various service avenues and activities undertaken by the Rotary Club of Bangalore, emphasizing Rotary’s commitment to community welfare and empowerment.
A unique feature of this year’s event was the integration of the Share a Smile project with the Limb-a-Day programme. As part of this initiative, beneficiaries received thoughtfully prepared goodie bags containing stainless steel water bottles, toiletry kits, protein bars, and a specially designed Prosthetic Diary.
Rtn. Satej Alur introduced the Prosthetic Diary and explained how it would help beneficiaries track appointments, follow rehabilitation guidelines, and maintain important records related to their prosthetic journey. Rtn. Sridhar Chari spoke about the importance of establishing a Placement Services link to assist persons with disabilities in accessing employment opportunities and becoming economically independent.
The event was also attended by Incoming President Rtn. Vineetha Chinappa, Rtn. Dinesh M.C., and Rtn. Dr. Nita Roy, making it a meaningful afternoon of service, compassion, and empowerment.

Share a Smile -Stitching Smiles: Empowering Lives
On 23 June 2026, Rotary Club of Bangalore, together with Subhash Bagaria Foundation and Chilume Social Service Society, distributed 44 sewing machines to women from Ejipura and Andhra Slum colonies. These machines add to 91 units given to graduates of the October 2025 training program. Each beneficiary is enrolled in a four-month tailoring course and will receive MSME certification on graduation. The generous contribution by Rotarians covered a major part of the machine cost; beneficiaries contributed the remainder.
Club President Rtn Sukhen Padmanabha, Rtns Kavitha Muthappa, Dr Nita Roy, Gowri Oza, Sapna Paul, Vikas Poddar and Rajshekhar Patil, along with Chilume’s Joseph AT and community leader Manju, attended the ceremony. Pres Rtn Sukhen lauded skill-based empowerment and the role these women play in building selfreliant families. Two past beneficiaries shared how training and machines transformed their livelihoods.
Each sewing machine is more than a tool, it’s a pathway to homebased businesses, group enterprises, and financial independence.
By pairing training, partial funding, and MSME certification, this partnership equips women to earn, support their families, and pursue longer-term goals.

FROM SMILES TO MILESTONES !! A roast, toast and applause
for president Sukhen Padmanabha!
I am a back bencher and did not know why I got this seat.
Anyway, I was seated here making some points to send a note to Sukhen my good friend for decades Let me read what I would have sent to him anyway.
There is an old cliche that aptly describes him: “He has come of age.”
Rarely do we find one person with so many positives and only 1 negative.
A good listener, a good smiler, a good looker, a good thinker, a good planner, a good human, a good leader, and also a good slave driver.
I can see that he has done several earth-shattering things this year….
He managed the impossible with Kavita as the secretary and Vini as President-elect!
Regarding the home front, only Hiranmayi can confirm!!
RCB will recognize his tremendous work of over 9 crores and 14 crores for the building.
I also heard that he did some earth-shattering things in the district recently.
Now he will return to the earth-shattering work of building metro stations.
Now for the 1 negative thing: If you noticed, I did not mention that he was a good talker , but I did mention that he is a good smiler. There are statistics that Rotarians asked him 12,619 questions and he answered 12,618 by smiling!!!
Adieu, President Sukhen. May you continue your good work. Jokes apart, I think you have led this 91 year old club, exactly as we all believe you should have. Congrats to Kavitha too and the entire team.
-PP Rtn Ranga Rao
Hope you enjoyed reading every issue of our weekly Rotator as much as I enjoyed putting it together!
Thanks to President Sukhen, I now know exactly where to cross the T’s and dot the I’s!
Without ever cracking a whip, he gently but firmly insisted on every single correction. He painstakingly went through every line, ensuring accuracy and perfection. His only insistence? That everyone’s photograph should appear… except his own! Unfortunately for me, he seemed to be in almost every frame!
Thanks to Sukhen, I now feel qualified to apply for the post of Editorin-Chief!
Jokes apart, working with him has been a wonderful learning experience. He taught me that every word matters! Spoken or …..written and that excellence lies in the smallest details. Thank you, Sukhen, for your patience, guidance, and unwavering pursuit of perfection.

STRONG HER-17
DRotary Club of Bangalore conducted an impactful session on 20th, June, 2026, at Universal Public School, Ramanagara, for 400 young and enthusiastic girls.
The students were deeply engaged, as the topic connected with their real experiences of feeling insecure while navigating independently from school and in daily life. And so the practical ways to stay alert, confident and safe were well received.
By the end of the session, we could clearly sense confidence in their voices, along with their excitement to continue learning Taekwondo as a tool of strength and self-defence.
This was a join collaboration between Rotary silk city and rotary club of Bangalore. Present were Rtn Dr Vimukhta, Rtn Vijeyta, Rtn. Malavika, Rtn. Anusha)
