Exploring the Green Heart of Bengaluru: The Cubbon Park Nature Walk

TOur weekly meeting was an interesting and a different experience this week. On a bright Saturday morning, two enthusiastic teams of Rotarians about twenty people each gathered at the heart of Bengaluru’s beloved Cubbon Park. What began as a simple walk soon unfolded into a tapestry of history, botany, zoology, poetry, and pure joy. Led by passionate amateur naturalists Suchi and Aashish the group stepped into a living classroom where every tree, creature, and flower held a story waiting to be told.
Cubbon Park, with its green grads under blue skies, offered the perfect backdrop. The majestic canopies formed natural cathedrals of light and shadow.
As the group moved along shaded paths, each stop became an opportunity to touch the bark of a tree, observe a flower, a fruit and even spot spiders!
What made the walk particularly memorable was the shared sense of gratitude, gratitude for the naturalists who made the morning so enriching, for our fellow Rotarians who made the experience lively, and for Cubbon Park itself, a green refuge in the heart of a bustling city.
An hour and a half passed by swiftly and we left with smiles, new knowledge, and a renewed appreciation for the quiet miracles of the natural world.
A big thank you to Rtn Arun Kumar Vaddi, Rtn R. Raghunathan, Rtn Vish Iyer and Rtn Kavita for a lovely morning!
Fun Fact : Mr Krumbiegel, the German horticulturist who transformed Bangalore into a “garden city,” was also the third President of the Rotary Club of Bangalore.
After the lovely walk the Rotarians were treated to a sumptuous breakfast before the weekly meeting.

The audience engaged and asked thoughtful questions about values, clarity, and purpose, and what truly nourishes a meaningful life.

ShieldHer Reaches Its 53rd awareness session at Christ University

The ShieldHer: United Against Cervical Cancer initiative marked its 53rd awareness session with an impactful program at Christ University, Kengeri Campus, engaging 310 young women from the B.Sc. Psychology department. The session focused on empowering students with accurate knowledge about cervical cancer, HPV prevention, and the importance of early detection.
Dr. Kiran Kulkarni, Professor of Gynaecologic Oncology at St. John’s Medical College Hospital led the session with clarity and depth, breaking down medical concepts into simple, relatable insights.
