ShieldHer: United Against Cervical Cancer
The Rotary Club Bangalore (RCB) and the Karnataka State Chapter of the Association of Gynaecologic Oncologists of India (KSC-AGOI) recently conducted three impactful cervical cancer awareness sessions as part of the ShieldHer: United Against Cervical Cancer Awareness Programs, reaching 590 beneficiaries. Thanks to the college management and staff for their support and hospitality in these sessions.
- At Oxford Engineering College, Bangalore, Dr. Vidyamani educated 106 students about cervical cancer prevention, HPV vaccination, and screening. This 24th session was interactive, with many students pledging to get vaccinated.
- At St. Claret College Autonomous, Bangalore, Dr. Shubha Rama Rao presented to 165 students in the 25th session of ShieldHer to an audience of both boys and girls. She discussed Cervical cancer and emphasized that HPV affects both genders.
- At Sri Kumaran Composite Junior College, Bangalore, Dr. Vidyamani spoke to 320 participants. This 26th session was highly interactive, with some students being already vaccinated, and many others pledging to get HPV vaccinated soon.
These three sessions held between Oct 28th and Nov 13th, 2024, successfully raised awareness about Cervical cancer, covering causes & risk factors, primary prevention through HPV vaccination, and the importance of secondary prevention through screening in Pap smear and HPV DNA tests
