73rd Independance Day Celebrations at RCB
INDEPENDENCE AND INTERDEPENDENCE HARMONIZE TO BLEND UNITY IN DIVERSITY. IN SPITE OF DIVERSE GEOGRAPHIES, RELIGIONS AND CULTURES, WE STAY UNITED.
On the 73rd Independence Day, as we pay homage to the Freedom Fighters and pledge to walk on the path envisioned by the Visionary Nationalists, let us reiterate that all virtues begin at home.
With all enthusiastic Rotarians and Anns gathered at RCB, our National Flag was proudly hoisted by President Rtn Elizabeth Cherian. She said that liberation from poverty, illiteracy and inequality is the true freedom. This was followed by the Rotary weekly meeting and a beautiful programme orchestrated by Chitra Ganapathy.
The first programme was by young girls from Vedha School. These girls represented the hope and optimism of India. Their dance depicted our Indian education system and history which dates back to the “Gurukul System”.
Next our Anns and Rotarians enacted patriotic songs.
The themes of the songs were centered around “I Love India”, befitting the occasion. Our handsome Rotarians danced to two songs depicting the soldiers’ love for the country and the yearning for their families left behind.
These sentinels of our country fought the fiercest of battles and guarded the country for many long years. All Indians salute the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters to ensure the independence of our country.
So on this beautiful day, it is a sense of pride which fills our heart when the National Anthem is played and the Tricolour flag is unfurled, giving us a feeling of “I am proud of my country and I am proud to be an Indian”.
