RCB Spelling Bee Competition 2025

We would be honoured to welcome up to nine students from your institution—three each from Classes/Grades FOUR, FIVE, and SIX—to step onto the grand stage and embrace this enriching experience. Beyond spelling mastery, this event nurtures courage, camaraderie, and personal growth. Students learn from their peers, challenge themselves, and develop invaluable public-speaking skills—all in a supportive and celebratory atmosphere.

This year’s edition of RCB Spelling Bee will be held on Sunday, 22nd June 2025, from 9:30 AM onwards.

Participation Guidelines

• Every participant should complete their online registration process through their respective schools on or before June 14, 2025.
• If your registration is done incorrectly or is incomplete, you won’t be allowed to participate. Please double-check all details!
• Please arrive at the venue by 9:30 AM to confirm your attendance and registration. The Spelling Bee competition will start promptly at 10:00 AM.
• We aim to finish the competition by 2:30 PM. However, please factor in the possibility of delays in concluding the event. Your patience is appreciated!
• All spelling for the Spelling Bee will strictly follow British/UK spelling only. No American spelling or spellings used elsewhere in the world that conflicts with British/UK spelling will be accepted.
• Participants will be thoroughly briefed and have the rules and regulations explained at each step of the competition.

How the Competition Works:

The competition will unfold in three exciting stages:

Phase 1: The Qualifier Round (Written Test)

• Who Participates: All registered students from Grades 4, 5, and 6.
• Format: This round will be a written questionnaire. You’ll be given a list of words in a multiple-choice format, where your task is to identify the correctly spelled word. No words will be pronounced aloud in this round – you’ll rely on your visual spelling skills!
• Advancement: A select number of our top-scoring participants from each grade will qualify to move on to the Semi-Finals.

Phase 2: The Semi-Finals (Oral Round)

• Who Participates: The top-performing students from the Qualifier Round across all grades will come together for this exciting oral challenge. The order in which participants spell their words will be randomly determined.
• Format: A live, oral spelling round. A pronouncer will say each word and use it in a sentence. You’ll then spell the word aloud within a specified time limit.
• Progression: This round will proceed by a process of elimination based on incorrect spellings. As participants spell words incorrectly, they’ll be eliminated. The competition will continue until the judges identify a select group of top candidates who will advance to the Finals.

Phase 3: The Finals (Oral Round)

• Who Participates: The very best spellers from the Semi-Finals will compete for the championship titles. The order in which participants spell their words will be randomly determined.
• Format: A live, oral spelling round. A pronouncer will say each word and use it in a sentence. You’ll then spell the word aloud within a specified time limit.
• Winners: The competition will continue through a process of elimination, based on spelling accuracy. The last spellers standing will be crowned our champions and runners-up!

Important Rules:

• No Electronic Devices: To ensure fairness, the use of mobile phones, iPads, or any other electronic devices is strictly prohibited for all participants throughout all rounds of the competition. All such devices must be switched off.
• Judges’ Decision is Final: The decisions of the judges regarding spelling correctness are final.

What’s at Stake?

Every participant will receive a Participation Certificate! Top achievers who reach the Semi-Finals and Finals will earn special certificates recognizing their advanced progress. Our ultimate winners will receive prestigious Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals, along with exciting gift vouchers!

To ensure the optimal flow and competitive balance of the event, the final number of participants advancing to each round and specific competition rules will be precisely determined once all registrations are complete. All comprehensive rules and guidelines will be communicated to registered participants before the competition date.
