We encourage you to send up to nine students from your institution, three each from classes/grades FOUR, FIVE and SIX.  They get to participate in a prestigious event.  They get to learn from their peers and most important, they learn to go on stage and learn new leadership skills. Please encourage sister schools and other schools you may have access to, to participate as well.

The participation guidelines and the format of the Bee:

  • Every participant should have completed their registration process online, before 17th January 2025.
  • If the registration is done incorrectly or is incomplete, you will not be allowed to participate.
  • The Spelling Bee will start at 2:00 PM. If you have an agenda for later in the day, PLEASE DO NOT PARTICIPATE, lest we get late. We intend to finish the Bee by 6:00 PM. However, if there is a delay, we request you to be patient.
  • All spelling for the Bee will be British, UK spelling only. No American spelling or spelling used elsewhere in the world that conflicts with the British/UK spelling will be treated as acceptable.
  • The Bee will be conducted in three parts:
    • Qualifier
    • Semi Finals
    • Finals
  • All participants from each class/grade will get to take part in the written Qualifier part.
  • Please do not ask the meaning of the word or the use of the word in a sentence – no questions shall be entertained in the Qualifier round.
  • Judges will decide the top candidates from the Qualifier round who will participate in the Semi-finals & Finals thereafter, and their decision shall be final and cannot be contested.
  • The FINALISTS shall be given numbers for sequence.
  • Each participant will be given a word.  This will continue until a word is spelt wrong and the participant is congratulated for participating.

The last three will then be selected as second and first runner ups and winner.
